FAQ

Answers to Common Income Tax Questions

It depends on your deductions. The New Tax Regime offers lower slab rates and a higher basic exemption limit (plus standard deduction), but eliminates most Chapter VI-A deductions. The Old Regime allows significant deductions for HRA, 80C, 80D, and home loan interest. Our team runs a comparative computation to identify whichever saves you the maximum tax.

The AIS provides a comprehensive view of all financial transactions recorded by the Income Tax Department—including savings interest, dividend payouts, stock market trading, mutual fund transactions, and property sales. Failing to report items shown in AIS triggers automated scrutiny notices under Section 139(9) or 143(1)(a).

Any taxpayer whose estimated total tax liability after deducting TDS exceeds ₹10,000 in a financial year is required to pay Advance Tax in four statutory instalments (15% by June 15, 45% by Sep 15, 75% by Dec 15, and 100% by March 15) to avoid interest under Sections 234B and 234C.

A Tax Audit by a practicing Chartered Accountant is mandatory for businesses with turnover exceeding ₹1 Crore (or ₹10 Crores if cash transactions are less than 5%), and for professionals with gross receipts exceeding ₹50 Lakhs (or ₹75 Lakhs under presumptive conditions).

Non-Resident Indians can claim benefits under Double Tax Avoidance Agreements (DTAA) entered into between India and their country of residence. By submitting a Tax Residency Certificate (TRC) and filing Form 67 along with their ITR, NRIs can claim foreign tax credits and avoid paying taxes twice.
